The right size light for your foyer

Choosing the correct size lighting fixture for your foyer can be a bit tricky but here are a few tips to help you out:
  • To determine the proper diameter for your fixture, add the length and width of your foyer in feet together and then change the final figure to inches (example 11 feet + 12 feet = 23 inches)
  • To determine the proper height for your fixture, remember that the bottom of the fixture should be at least 7 feet from the floor.  If you have an 8' or 9' ceiling, a flush or semi-flush mount would be best for your application but if your entry is 10' or maybe a double entry because you have an upper level, you could go with a pendant or a grand chandelier
  • If there is a window above your door, you should choose a fixture that you can center in the window to be seen from outside your home
