I like the website feature of being able to check lamps I like and they appear at the bottom of the page. Everything seemed to load fast, the site was easy to navigate, and I really appreciated seeing more than "12" pieces per page. I looked at approximately 4-6 different lighting sites as a result of my google search, and this one was far superior. The prices are good and competitive, this piece was $00.20 more than lamps-lighting.com, but with the 5% first time customer discount, of course it's less. Kudo's to the web designer, nice job, even for idiots like me!

I’m so disappointed that your website doesn’t offer a “comments” section! I was going to write a review on the Raiden Iron Oxide and Venetian Scavo Glass Chandelier (1186-357) I recently purchased from your site.

First let me say, your customer service was great! I don’t have her name, but the lady who answered my initial e-mail regarding a question I had, was prompt, precise, and very friendly. Also, the chandelier arrived at my house within 3 or 4 days!

Now, let me get to the chandelier itself… it’s magnificent! I spent days on end researching the perfect chandelier within my budget, to no avail. I would print out picture after picture and with each one I found, my heart would sink when I realized it just wasn’t the “right” one.

And I have to tell you-- I really splurged on this purchase… I’d already spent soooo much money refinishing my kitchen and dining room that I really wanted to stay closer to the $200.00 range with this purchase. But I had to have this chandelier. And let me tell you - it was worth every penny. The compliments and “ooos” and “ahhs” I get from friends are awesome, as well. I recently threw a “Michigan” themed birthday party for my 13-year-old son Alek, and my guests raved about the light!

I love the warm golden glow it gives off in my dining room --- kind of like the glow of a candle, especially when I have it dimmed on “low.” It creates the perfect mood for which I was aiming in that room.

I LOVE this chandelier!

It made several debuts in my photos this past weekend and I thought I’d share a few. Enjoy!

My interaction was with Wayne via customer service. I called to get info on how they match or beat prices of their competitors. When I called the customer service number, I got Wayne. I told him which product I wanted to purchase and he said he would call me back with the pricing info that he would be able to offer. Honestly, I did not expect to hear back from him. He called back within 30 minutes and beat the lowest price that I had found out on line. I was thoroughly shocked - one that he called back and secondly that he was honoring their policy. This was so refreshing because I have had numerous bad experiences with customer service folks. So I placed the order and will await my mirror. Thank you so much Wayne for your professionalism. Just so you know I shopped this a lot and your prices were good ( did find a few dollars lower) and your website the best by far. Some did not allow me to narrow my search options enough, some not at all. Some only searched by brand when I did not know what brand I wanted. But the biggest problem was to see the light properly. MOST of them did not allow me to get a close enough image of the light to truly see the finish. Lamps plus was the only webpage that allowed me to get even closer than yours, but I was shocked to find out your prices were much better.

I have been shopping for lighting on various sites, catalogs, and stores. This site was by far the most efficient site. Your layout is user friendly and you can really see what you are purchasing. I'm looking for the isabella burnished brass semi-flush mount bath fixture by Hinkley. You guys have the best price and the best shipping time, as well as free fedex shipping. It just seems too good to be true. Everyone else is 2-4 weeks or 4-6 weeks shipping. I need this light fixture within two weeks.

The problem is, I can't find customer review for you other than one. There are enough comlete scams out there that it worries me to not have you reviewed by anyone. I've tried Nextag (they have one review), BizRate (they have the same review), but
shopping.com, yahoo.com, msn.com, aol.com, and other shopping stores don't have any feedback on your company.

I don't have time to waste with chargbacks (I've done them in the past when necessary) and I don't have time to deal with sending back broken products.

I know it's a stupid question to ask you guys. But are you legitimate? Will I receive the product ordered and in good condition? Will I receive it in a timely manner? Do you have any customers I can e-mail and ask how their shopping with you went?

Sorry to be such a freak, but I've seen lots of horrible reviews for alot of complete scam artists in this industry and it makes me wary that you don't have any reviews.

We agree, it is a dangerous world out there and there are too many scams generated from the internet these days. Our sister company has been in business locally, in Boise, ID for several years. The Isabella semi-flush, 5391BB, is currently in stock and, if you placed your order today, it would ship no later than next Monday. Depending on your location, you should receive it within 2-5 days of shipping. In regards to damage, this is not a problem. We very seldom have damage issues as items are very well packaged. If you do receive your light and something is broken, lets say the glass, you would simply need to email us or call us directly and we will get a replacement out to you right away. In the event that the fixture needs to be replaced entirely, which is very unlikely, we would also handle getting the item picked up from your location.

The next day I changed my mind about two of the items, I was able to email my person with a name who modified my order. I would definitely use this vendor again.

Yahoo sends out a rating form automatically to all of our customers. The response that we get is typically just a rating; bad, good, excellent, etc., but every once in a while, we get additional comments along with the rating. We thought that we would begin sharing the ratings by posting them on our blog for all to see. Is there another mini-pendant that would have the similar finish and glass as the Boulevard bowl pendant? I'm open to a different company as long as they were similar and complemented each other. This month's topic - Mini-Chandeliers

Mini-chandeliers are the new alternative to flush and semi-flush lighting. With so many styles and colors to choose from, you can put them just about anywhere in your home. They look really fabulous in powder rooms and are a wonderful alternative for a bedroom or sitting room.

They are a great way to add pizzaz without going over the top. An why not start something ....you're new lighting idea will be the envy of the neighborhood.

Designing a pleasing website is tough

The web based marketing industry has matured in recent years. The average commercial website is far more sophisticated than it was say 5 years ago. Also, the big companies are driving the cost of advertising through the roof which makes it a difficult business to operate.

Since there is no product exclusivity and many of us are marketing the same products there are only a few ways to make a connection with the customer. The internet is also the great price leveler. Since comparison shopping is so easy prices are forced to be very similar and price is going away as a way a vendor can differentiate themselves.

That leaves us with only customer service and the design of the website itself as the key drivers for an online business.

We have had many interestng discussions about what makes a good site and what do people want. For our design, we have deliberately avoided the complex style so many sites use. The multi-column, highly fragmented page, with specials, and deals, and competing information that offers so many choices it overloads the eye is offensive from our perspective. We call it a tabloid strategy.

We have deliberately tried to make our site less frantic. Rather than presenting all possible choices, we have created a large number of pre categorized and pre sorted pages which are organized in the way people actually look for information and helps them focus in on what features they are looking for in a product. By simplifying the navigation process we let the customer pay attention to the products rather than how to get around the site.

We also organize the information in a consistent way so that moving around the site becomes intuitive fairly quickly and we present information in a standard format which aids the comparison between items. We also provide a "Lights I Like" notepad which can hold items of interest and it follows along as a person shops so they don't have to remember what it was they were looking at earlier.

Time will tell whether these approaches are really what appeal to people but its our story and we are sticking to it.

As we began our journey, an associate of mine offered to feature us in a monthly news letter that is generated to his clients. Marc Rentz is the owner of a local mortgage company who I worked with to purchase my home a couple of years ago. In working with Marc, we thought it would be a wonderful idea to provide his clients with a discount on the purchase of lighting for their new homes. This is great for them and has allowed us to do some local advertising here at home in Boise, ID. This was just a small feature, but it turned out so well, I really thought it would be nice to share it with everyone else. This blog is a new adventure for us. We began building our website www.lightingshowroom.com in February 2007 and have been focused on adding products and getting the site architecture into a presentable condition. As the site is beginning to stabilize we wanted a way to open up a dialog with our customers and decided to give blogging a try.

We are a small company going into the retail battle with the giants of our particular industry. We can't compete with them on a capital budget basis so for us to succeed we must find ways to serve our customers better. The quality of what we do will, in the end, be the life or death question for us.

Our hope is that we will be able to develop better communications with our customers and get some good suggestions about how to improve the site or learn what things are wrong with it. We invite your comments. Praise is certainly appreciated, but knowing what we have screwed up is critical. Thanks in advance for your comments.
