In response to the review regarding the shade being plastic on this item - it is actually made from Art Glass - when Art Glass fixtures are assembled, the individual pieces of glass are surrounded by copper foil and then soldered together - this process \"deadens\" the sound of the glass and results in the \"plastic\" sound described in the review above.
